Mental Stillness Learning Project for Primary Schools, High Schools, Teachers in association with the Meditation Research Programme, Sydney University
MRP – The Meditation Research Programme is a research initiative of the Discipline of Psychiatry, Sydney Medical School
Mental Stillness is a non-commercial initiative aimed at providing evidence-based resources to teachers and their students. As the name implies, the modules teach skills that facilitate the mental silence experience.
Systematic and rigorous scientific studies have demonstrated specific effects of the mental stillness experience and its benefits for physical and psychological health. Field studies in schools have further demonstrated that the techniques are suitable to the school and classroom environment and that children enjoy the experience. Currently, the evidence indicates that regular instruction leads to significant reduction in mental health risk and improvements in social skills.
